The international business community has chosen international arbitration as the preferred method of settling their disputes, given the delocalized and a-national nature of arbitration itself. This system may be considered to be an autonomous legal order, transnational in character, of which arbitrators are the organs and invested, therefore, with a public function, to the extent that this function meets the collective needs of the international business community.
