Just after the first anniversary of the Union for the Mediterranean, many specialists, professionals, academics, economists, officials of the Union for the Mediterranean and other international organisations, will pool together their analysis and proposals for a set of legal rules during the present symposium.

Opposition will emerge, stating that culture, the environment, consumer protection, intellectual property, etc., will be subjected to unification, harmonisation, or a uniformisation process with the main objective being international trade.
