Since it was first published in 2007 (RDAI no.4), the International Investments - Law and Practice chronicle has provided regular reports on the abundance of works, legal texts and cases involving investment law. Of the many chronicles published in specialised journals, what makes our chronicle stand out is the audience it is targeting, namely both academics and legal practitioners. The materials we have to work with are vast and dense; our aim is to compress them into a form that is sufficiently precise, accessible and focused for our readers. The chronicle is intended to present an overall view and not just an analysis of the case law continually being turned out in this area. It also reports on all the news - in the broadest sense of the term - that is of interest to academics, lawyers, arbitrators, negotiators of contracts or international agreements, public sector employees and in-house legal counsel. Writing this chronicle required a team effort. It is published thanks to a great deal of work from researchers and legal practitioners from various backgrounds, on both sides of the Mediterranean. Lastly, the ongoing concern of the writers of this chronicle is to enrich its content; they are therefore open to any comments or observations that could help them to improve their work.

This chronicle will cover the period of 1 September 2007 to 31 August 2008. It will present case law (I), legal texts (II), useful information (III) and recent publications in the field (IV).
